HEADLINE: Williams to join song lineup for Oscar telecast
DATELINE: LOS ANGELES
BODY:
Robin Williams will be the odd man out among performers
doing nominated songs at Sunday's Oscars.
The comic and actor is performing "Blame Canada," one of the cleaner
songs from the potty-mouthed animated film "South Park: Bigger, Longer
& Uncut."
Songwriters Trey Parker and Marc Shaiman say that unlike other tunes from
the movie, "Blame Canada" has only one or two words that need
to be edited for the broadcast.
Phil Collins will perform his song "You'll Be in My Heart" from
Tarzan, Gloria Estefan and 'N Sync will do songwriter Diane Warren's "Music
of My Heart" from "Music of the Heart" and Aimee Mann will
sing her tune "Save Me" from "Magnolia."
Randy Newman, nominated for his 13th Oscar, will join Sarah McLachlan in
performing his "When She Loved Me" from "Toy Story 2."
